The municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana has an exceptional coastline which stretches over 32 km, with big and colourful golden and, in a minor extent, black volcanic sand, as well as with a beautiful rocky sea bottom with a great diversity of marine life and excellent climatic conditions. The swell and the ocean currents convert this area into ideal place to practise water sports all over the year.
Its numerous beaches are interspersed with flat beaches, small cliffs and boulder beaches.
The waters bathing this calm coastline keep warm ocean temperatures all over the year, ranging from 18 to 25ºC. All these excellent conditions make your beach dream come true, in a magnificent place to enjoy sun and swim in the clean waters of the Atlantic Ocean at just a few hours away from any point in Europe.
The most famous beaches, El Inglés, Maspalomas and San Agustín, have been granted with blue flags since 1988. The Blue Flag is an award to the environmental quality developed by the FEE (European Foundation for Environmental Education), sponsored by the European Commission, which grants those communities which strive in keeping beaches and marinas clean, safe and managed with respect for the local environment.
