GETTING THERE AND GETTING AROUND

Flying into Gran Canaria Airport, there are direct flights from several places around the world. Coming by boat into the Port of  La Luz and Las Palmas, as this is a popular cruise ship destination. Every day there are regular ferries that connect the islands to each other and to various continental destinations.

Once you are on the island, there is a public transport service called GLOBAL which links the island’s various urban areas, along with plenty of taxis, making Maspalomas a quick and convenient destination to get to.

Hiring a car is a good option for travelling around the island. Travelling by car in particular guarantees you the freedom to go where you want, when you want. It also enables you to admire the diverse landscapes across the island.

Driving requirements: Citizens from the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein must be at least 21 years of age and a have a current, valid driving licence. If you are from any other country, you must have an international driving licence. It is also specified that you must have minimum of two years’ experience.
